Types of Braces

Silver (Metal) Braces: Metal braces are the most common type of braces and they are more comfortable today than ever before. They are fabricated from high-quality stainless steel. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored ties (rubber bands) at each adjustment visit.

Ceramic (Invisible) Braces:

Self-Ligating Braces: (Damon® Braces and Innovation® braces); These types of braces have no colored ties, but rather engage or "hold onto" the archwire with a built-in door.

Clear Aligners (such as Invisalign®): These aren't braces at all! Rather, they consist of a series of clear, removable aligners. Clear appliances are nearly invisible and they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. However, not everyone is a candidate for clear aligner treatment. Dr. Pellegrini will outline if clear aligners are a good option for you.
