Smiles for life starts with your retainer!

For those of you who have completed your orthodontic treatment here at Pellegrini Orthodontics, congratulations! But while you are enjoying your new fantastic smile, don’t forget….The importance of retainers! They are named for exactly what they do…RETAIN! Your retainers ‘retain’ or maintain your teeth and keep them looking great! After braces are removed, teeth can shift out of position if they are not stabilized by good retainer wear. Here are some tips to remember about your retainers:

* Wear your retainers as instructed. After all, wearing your retainers every night ensures that your teeth stay straight.
* Take your retainers out while eating…and always put retainers in their case! (Most appliances are lost in school lunch rooms or restaurants and are easily thrown away if haphazardly wrapped in a napkin!)
* When retainers are not in your mouth they should be in a retainer case.
* Retainers are breakable, so treat them with care. If retainers are lost or broken, call our office so that new ones may be fabricated.
